Nicky Nicola is a third-generation Italian American who returned to Italy to find his roots and decided Abruzzo was his true home. His passion and determination to find as many branches as possible from his family tree led him to discover the twisted history of his grandfather’s emigration from the mountains of central Italy. The false starts, marriage to my grandmother Gemma and a second sailing from Naples provide a true story that lies at the heart of this book.
